The subject of this study is the return of mentally ill people to work as a means of psychosocial rehabilitation. Specifically, the subject of this research are the social enterprises in Greece. In this context, the applied method is the qualitative research through case studies. For this purpose we have selected the Social Enterprise «KOSMOS HORIZON» and the Social Cooperative of Limited Liability «Eu zin». In addition, the tool that has been chosen is the semi-structured interviews in depth. The qualitative research has documented that working in social enterprises does not contribute, in Greece today, successfully to the process of psychosocial rehabilitation of mentally ill people, mainly because of the flexible labour relations that prevail in them. The difficulties of economic viability that the social enterprises are facing have been highlighted, mainly due to the competitive framework which exists in the free market. The lack of political support to the social enterprises has also been analyzed, as an important obstacle to their viability and their role in rehabilitation. According to the above, the hypothesis has been developed that the return to work can eventually help mentally ill people to psychosocial rehabilitation, only if their labour relations are improved. This assumption is the result of the empirical study of the subject and could be examined in a future qualitative research.
