The developments that take place today in the sector of labor relations are rapid. Theentry of continuously more flexible forms of employment has led to the crisis of“typical” model of employment. The entry of American models of market (e.g.supermarkets) in the Greek labour market has led to the use of more flexible practices inorder to decrease the functional and labor cost of enterprises.The object under study of this particular work is part-time work in the area ofsupermarkets and the main interest is in the example of a known chain.As a methodology we have the quantitative analysis for the depiction of statisticaldata and the qualitative analysis (interviews in-depth) on the presentation of the contentof labor relations.The following conclusions arose from the results of the research in the known chain:Part time work has taken very large dimensions in the area of supermarkets. Theinstitution of part-time work is used for the reduction of functional and labor cost. Parttimework constitutes for most workers a forced choice. A legislation for part-time workexists, but there are cases of violation of the rights of part-time workers. The relationbetween full-time and part-time workers is supplementary and simultaneouslycompetitive. An association of workers exists in the particular chain of supermarket, butthere isn’t a very big participation from part-time workers.
