Διεθνές δίκαιο και κλιματική πολιτική: η έννοια της προσαρμογής και η εφαρμογή της στην περίπτωση των μικρών αναπτυσσομένων νησιωτικών κρατών (SIDS)

Abstract

Η διατριβή αφορά την ανάλυση του πυλώνα της προσαρμογής από τη σκοπιά του Διεθνούς Δικαίου του Περιβάλλοντος και της Ανάπτυξης. Η μελέτη εξειδικεύεται στην περίπτωση των Μικρών Νησιωτικών Αναπτυσσόμενων Κρατών και συμπεριλαμβάνει την ανάλυση έρευνας πεδίου η οποία έλαβε χώρα στα Τόνγκα, το Μπαρμπάντος και τις Σεϊχέλες.

This thesis is mainly on the analysis of international climate policy, as developed in recent years through the negotiating framework of the UN. Climate policy is based on the pillars of mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation to the adverse impacts of climate change, respectively. Adaptation and more specifically the adaptation law, is growing rapidly at national and regional level. The thesis will examine the relationship of international climate policy with international environmental law, international law of development and the emerging field of adaptation law. Selection of Small Island Developing Countries as a case study is based on the fact that they are the most vulnerable group of countries to climate change and therefore with the rest of the developing South are at the epicentre of international climate negotiations.
