Examining, and attempting to identify our major, basic or fundamental beliefs and dicta of psychology represents a challenging question that ΑΙ Mahrer attempts to answer. In this introductory note the benefits as well as the difficulties in answering these questions are presented along with the rationale of why it isimportant to address them. Implications for clinical practice and the development of the discipline are included.
