Abstract:The following thesis is referring to the matter of the connection between biolaw and bioethics as far as the collection and use of genetic data is concerned. During the last decades, a constant progress of life sciences, especially of genetics, has been observed due to the DNA code‘s revelation. The capacity of analyzing human being’s genetic material influences variously many aspects of life. Bill Clinton and Tony Blair have successfully stated on the 26th of June 2010 in their common announcement about the first integrated DNA ‘s decoding effort that “today we are learning the language via which God constructed life”. In addition, the application of computer science on the field of genetic science has set the issue of storing and processing the information about humans’ genetic identity, which is called “genetic data”. This aspect of scientific evolution must be handled with care in different ways both in the national and international scene. On the one side, legal measures have been taken to regulate the conditions under which genetic data‘s collection and use is allowed. The new general term for the relevant legislation is “biolaw”. On the other side, the development around the use of genetic data provokes several ethic dilemmas, that concern the domain of “bioethics”. Facing the arising problems not only by its legal but also by its philosophic aspect helps humanity to find the appropriate solutions and try to “make profit” out of the appealing scientific progress while protecting at the same time the fundamental human rights that might probably be at risk. In the text of this research the distinct approach of the most significant points of “biolaw” in the case of collection and use of genetic information is introduced at first. Then, the separate approach of the basic points of “bioethics” is discussed. Finally, some thoughts about whether these branches can supplement each other or not are presented.
