The field of this current research is focused on the textbooks of religious education of highschool, specifically the textbooks introduced to education a) during the period 1997-2000 and b) the school year of 2016-2017. It is worth mentioning that the books are co-examined with the Official Government Gazettes that define their context and with various 'guides' that lead the teaching methods of the manuals. The approach of two generation manuals is made comparatively. The purpose of this dissertation is to examine in which way the textbooks contribute to social inequality reproduction. To what extent and in which way their writing creates inequalities in the classroom? How does writing validate social inequality in general? This dissertation examines specifically three ways through which social inequality ‘legitimates’ a) through signification of cultural boundaries of our society. b) through how a 'better society' is defined and c) through the belief that a human being constitutes a ‘individual’, not a ‘person’. In this dissertation, sociology of education theories, as well as sociology of religion theories are used as theoretical tools for the conduct of research. More specifically, I quote theories of sociology of education by P. Bourdieu and J. C. Passeron about reproduction of cultural 'capital' of students, as well as force of 'symbolic violence' on them. Through force of 'symbolic violence' social values and symbols that promote and ‘legitimate’ social inequality are 'naturalized' in students' conscience. As far as sociology of religion is concerned, it is the key to awareness and understanding of the political sense of narratives, that one may come across in a religious education textbook. This research is actually addressed to anyone - directly or indirectly- involved with the class of religious education, either they are members of the Institute of Educational Policy or teachers, priests, parents or even students. Firstly, it will help them understand the political sense of religion, so, inevitably, it will make them more careful when they invoke religious narratives. There is no doubt that they will not stop invoking them, but they will be interested in what kind of application they might have to the cosmic field.
